Our fundamentals course is designed to offer you a basic understanding of clay - the methods, process, language, and how to evolves over time. Over our 4 weeks together we'll guide you on a journey through the textures, tales and potential of claywork, giving you a complete foundation in pottery skills and approaches.

The 4 week course gives you a start in creating your own ceramic projects. We think this creates a deeper understanding and more developed work by the end of the journey.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

This course is ideal for total beginners, anyone who has tried the odd pottery class before, or as a refresher for anyone coming back to clay after a break. But someone who committing to 8 weeks maybe a little of a stretch

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

• 8 hours of tuition

• all materials including clays, glazes and community tools

• your own Wedge sketchbook

• our handbook including making guides to keep

• firing of a handful of pieces made during the course, within reasonable size and scale!

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

• An apron or old T-shirt

• Ideas, scrapbook, Pinterest boards

• Fundamentals is taught by a number of studio teachers.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Week 1 - studio introduction, idea generation & slab mugs

Week 2 - coiling for building and decoration

Week 3 + 4 - colour and glazing / wheel throwing
