A perfect place to begin if you prefer a more structured experience - this 1 day class is designed to get you from the start line to magnificent maker with expert step-by-step guidance to master your new favourite mug and essential bowl - whether you’re a granola god/dess or acai addict.
Our tutor will warm you up with a pinch pot session giving you a shape destined to become your everyday breakfast bowl. Next we’ll give you a detailed demo on creating a slab-built mug, one of our favourite forms and the base of our studio mug collection. We’ll teach you how to slip and score to ensure your mug is totally leak-proof and then get down to the details with a masterclass in handles. At the end of the day your pieces will be sitting pretty on our drying rack, and we’ll get them fired for you just as soon as it’s kiln-ready.
Your daily duo will be ready to collect around 2 weeks after your session - we’ll let you know if they are ready sooner (it all depends on our firing schedule), and then we’d love you to book into a colour workshop to take them to completion. If you aren’t local, we can do a quick transparent glaze and post your pieces out to you.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Ideal for those coming to clay for the very first time, but open to anyone interested in scoping out the studio. Please note that tuition is aimed at beginner level and is specifically guided in a step by step style - please note this is not a freestyle class.

all materials including clays and community tools
your first (bisque) firing of two pieces
transparent glazing, which our team will do for you to ensure your piece is food safe
